So maybe it isn't for you. This mod is based on the American Civil War, we have tried to create a realistic feel to how battles would have been fought, using eyewitness account, civil war historians and reenactors, we will continue to tweak the combat as time goes on. I don't think I would enjoy it nearly so much just playing battles in isolation. That's what counts.įor me, the Empire-building and campaign game is what brings the battles to life. I imagine there is plenty that will have historical accuracy buffs tearing their hair out, but I don't care – it's fun and bursting with atmosphere. (But I don't mind, I prefer Dahomean Amazons, anyway.) It is a bit silly that the game will let me, as Britain, have as many Dahomean Amazon units as I like (you can raise them if you hold certain African provinces in the version of the game I have), but I can only have one battalion of Highlanders! Unless they are now putting the patches on the game disks, be prepared for a shedload of downloading before the game will actually let you play it (don't worry, it's all done automatically). I love it now they have got it patched to a standard where the game actually works. Thanks for anything you feel is useful to know. (I am too old with too little time to do fun stuff to be able to take on a new period). I just want to fight battles without painting a new period of miniatures. I got Age of Empires with the Americas in it and I did not like the civilization building in it. I plan on looking at that Hist something mentioned as a comparison, also. I wondered (if it is what I want) has it been fixed to solve the problems pointed out on TMP or not? Were there really problems to fix or just a difference of opinion?

I did a TMP search and found the mixed reviews. I saw Total War Empire at Target to day (St.Louis, Missouri, USA) and wondered if it was a PC game (put the disc into the drive and play) or if I had to go online play? I do not want to get involved in a game I have to pay for monthly. My son has told me about World of Warcraft and I have played a little of Gettysburg by Meiers.
